Expecting AI to nail it on the first try is like expecting a first draft of an essay to be perfect. It is the beginning of the process, not the end.

Diagnose before you adjust

When the output is not right, ask: Is it too long/short? Wrong tone? Missing information? Wrong format? Wrong perspective? Identify the specific problem before writing your follow-up prompt.

Compound your improvements

Each iteration narrows the gap. Version 1 is rough. Version 2 is better. Version 3 is often very good. Professional AI users always expect 3-5 iterations before they have what they need.
